I studied that lovely little piece of crap call the "Truth Book". First I studied with a single "brother". That didn't work out so then they had me studied with a "brother" who went on to be a circuit overseer or district overseer (not sure which I wasn't around by then) and one of the long time "annointed"witnesses. I was a great disapointment to them when I walked away from the Watchtower. It is sad that we couldn't remain friends but the were hardcore company men.

Who Taught You The Truth(tm) OR Who Counted Time, On You?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inmy mom's lover would bring his handsome youngest son, to our house, and along with my dad, would study with my brother, sister and i. wed 7 pm.. next an elder's wife, who was a regular pioneer and worked part-time, who had a daughter my age, came to our house, after school wed. ruth was the head of the house and wore the pants.
her husband was part of the 3 men who sat on all judicial committees in our congo and would tell ruth everything, which in turn ruth would tell the sister's.
ruth was very pious but at the age of 15 gave birth to her only child, and beat on her daughter all the time, never letting her forget what "trouble" her only daughter caused her.

Recently I had a cousin tell me that when her grandmother was dying she felt awful about how she treated her son by shunning him. She wanted to see him before she died but sadly it never happened. Jdubs really mess things up for themselves by listening to those old farts in Brooklyn.
BTW she (my cousin) is being shunned by both her parents.

Disney's The Lone Ranger - This movie is awful - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas ini never really liked the 'pirates' movies that much, so i don't know how i was talked into this one.
it's a shame because johnny depp is much better than these quirky roles he is now assigned to play.
just hope he puts a few million of this payday in his kid's college fund.

I'll wait for the dvd then rent it. One of my problems with the movies they put out now is poor editing. They seem to go on and on. A movie that should have been 90 min goes on for 2 plus hours. Also they seem to make a lot of remakes these days that aren't as good as the original movies.

PAYBACK: How Judge Rutherford conceived the MILITARY neutrality policy
by Terry inwhen rutherford published (in defiance of russell's will) a phoney posthumus final volume of russell's studies in the sciptures (the finished mystery) problems began which eventually resulted in criminal prosecution for watchtower society administrators.. certain passages in this book were so anti-government as to represent the society's views as dangerous to national security.
(in a time of war.).
the blowback from this book was unexpectedly severe.

I remember years ago reading somewhere that Rutherford did something to apease the government to keep himself out of trouble but didn't remember what it was. I've been looking for the info you posted here.
I also remember that back in the Vietnam era male witnesses of draft age were told that they couldn't go in the military or even ask for alternative service yet they didn't offer any draft counciling. BTW not being able to ask for alternative service made no sense to me.
One time during that era I was at the draft board and saw a table set up outside offering draft counciling. I think it was run by the SDS but I don't remember for sure. Anyway there was clean cut young man there who was asking for assistance. If you were clean cut back then you stood out. It turned out that he was a Jehovah's Witness I remember this because I recently began studing with them so I was observing him. I remember wondering why he was asking them for help rather then his church. Now I know why. The Watchtower didn't offer any counciling for something as life changing as refusing military service. They didn't mind throwing young men under the bus as long as it didn't effect them.

One time my wife and I were staying at a hotel in Calgary. Went to the bar for a couple of drinks. There were four men in the bar sitting at a table with coon skin caps on their heads. I thought this was just a tad odd. I had one of this in the 50s. What was even odder was that one of them kept looking at me. We finally make contact with them and invited them to our booth. It turned out they were medics in the British Army in the 3rd Battlion Parachute Regiment. They bought the hats as a joke. We wound up sitting together for a long night of drinking and telling stories. They were familar with California because much to my surpise they had been to El Centro California quite a few times for training missions. In my expirience no one in there right mind goes to El Centro as a destination. Most people have never even heard of it but apparently the British Army goes there because of the stable weather condition for jumping out of planes.
I only remember one of their names because it was John Kennedy. He was the one that kept appologising for any of the others rude behavior in front of my wife. At one point I had push one of them and smack his hand away when he tried to grab my wifes ass when she as she got up to go to the restroom. John again appologised for his friends behavior and calmed things down. If found out the reason one of them kept looking at me was because I had a very colorful OP Hawaiian shirt on that he really liked. He asked if I would trade it for his Parachute Regiment sweat shirt he had on. I jumped at the chance and we traded right there in the bar. This was just before the Falklands War of which they were a part and we always wonder what happened to them.

Former Long Time Elder: Why I am still in

I have to agree with OnTheWayOut, JWfacts and Lisa and others. You don't need the Watchtower or for that matter any other religion to be a good moral person. Many of my atheist or agnostic friends have as good if not better morals than I do. Once you know it is a load of BS you need to figure out a plan of escape and get out. It might not happen overnight but you need to get out of there. The problem with faking being a JW is that in the long run you are doing harm to yourself and others. What happens if you son needs a blood transfusion? Do you tell him to go to college or to pioneer? If you don't believe it do you tell your son not to go in field service or do you allow him to waste his time trying to convert others? There is always the possibilty that he may find some poor suckers and draw the in. How would you feel about that? How do you react when some one new comes to the hall? Do you tell them to run like hell or say how pleased you are to see them here? I know others will disagree with me here but I really don't see how anyone can remain a JW once the know it is all a lie without harming themselves and others.

So you are full of pride if you don't listen to someone who refers to themself as a glorious ones. I think the "glorious ones" might have a little problem with pride.
Reliability and accuracy....now there are two words that come to mind when you think of the Watchtower's track record.
I can't imagine ever having to waste a good weekend listening to that BS.

The CO and his wife have no home
by not bitter ini know some have a flat or apartment that they can go to on the odd week off but i believe that the majority have no base to call home.. my parents have the co and wife stayng this week again and i asked my mum about it.
she says that if they do get the any time off they go to her mothers to stay but thats only every few months.
i just can't imagine having to live out of a suitcase in someone elses home constantly.. how to they not crack up.

I remember witnesses making fun of other religions because their ministers could retire and had retirement plans in place for themselves. People who listen to the Watchtower make bad life choices from the lowly magazine peddler right up to the boys at the top.

Welcome to the forum James. Tomorrow when I have time I'm going go back and read all your post.
On the oral sex thing. Years ago an xjw I knew was telling me about a conversation he had with a woman who had left the witnesses. She had become a JW but her husband never did. In the early seventies when the WT said oral sex was wrong (I believe they said fornication) she refused to have it with him even though they both enjoyed it. This eventually lead to divorce. When he mentioned to here that the Watchtower had change their mind and now oral sex was a matter of conscience she broke down in tears because she was till in love with him and following the Watchtower had cost her her marriage.
